Interview with Aida Vrazalica
In this edition of our series of industry talks we had the chance to meet Aida Vrazalica. She is the Swedish CEO of the brand marketing agency bybabba and has a long career within the fashion & marketing industry. We are so glad that this power women joined us for our Q&A this month.
How would you describe your style?
Feminine and timeless with a portion of attitude.
Some pieces have the power to make you feel confident in any situation. Do you have such pieces in your wardrobe? Tell us about what makes them so special to you.
I most definitely do, I have a full collection of suits that I have been collecting since i was 15. I remember buying a suit instead of ripped denim as everyone else in my age was doing. I love a good structured blazer, a 90’s vintage suit, my favorite being one Jean Paul Gaultier ’ 94 pinstriped tobacco colored with transparent inserts. I also have a Thierry Mugler black and white dress I really love and works at all times.
When did you first realize that fashion had a special meaning to you? Do you have a particular memory that you could share with us?
I have been so experimental with my style throughout the years. I basically have tried and tested all boundaries when it comes to fashion, the 90210 era, Paris Hilton era, the Anna delle Russo era. Fashion was my way of expressing myself when words weren’t enough. I also see when looking at pictures now from then how I “dress the part you want” basically, always dressing over the top because that’s how I saw myself. I am so happy that I let myself be creative and expressive back then. That makes it way easier to understand what style I feel most comfortable, confident and myself in today.
What pieces are on your wishlist at the moment?
A pair of Prada patent leather boots. I don’t really do wishlists, but I’m always browsing for my next great vintage one-of-a-kind purchase and of course my next addition to the suit collection.
What does luxury mean to you? Explain how you implement it in your everyday life and style.
Luxury to me means being and staying true to oneself. I also associate luxury with quality, meaning it doesn’t have to cost a fortune but needs to have a strong history with focus on craftsmanship, whether it is a brand or a product. In my everyday life and style I always make sure I feel like myself , whatever I´m wearing or doing it needs to correlate with my values, it has to be like a pro-lengthening of my persona.
Who are the female role models inspiring you in your style and career?
Growing up in the 90’s my mom and I played dress up and took probably several thousands of pictures on film (so grateful for them today). She was basically my style icon throughout my whole childhood. I loved how she always stayed on top of her game no matter budget restrictions or zero “her” time. Being an immigrant, single mother with 2 kids and several jobs at once, she was always the best dressed in the room and always the one to give the most energy. That to me is a true inspiration. Otherwise I do love the 90’s top model vintage looks (Naomi, Cindy, Heidi) Victoria Beckham and recently Elsa Hosk’s gala looks.
Aside of fashion, we would love to hear about your other interests in life! What is your driving force?
My driving force is my children and leaving this earth with them remembering how I made them feel or inspire them to follow their own path, rather then what I achieved work wise. I do love how careers can inspire and open eyes for some who never thought “they’d make it”. But leaving a room and ensuring that the energy you brought in there, stays, that is my main goal, no matter the room, pre-school or boardroom.
Last but not least: which are your 3 favorite designers on seezona.com and what do you love the most about them?
Dafna May, I love basically every piece they do. Power and effortlessness in one. Milo Maria, I’m all about timeless pieces with a twist and they do it so gracefully.I also do admire Zeynep Erdogan creations, you can clearly see the craftsmanship behind every piece.
