Interview with Alicia Agneson
For this month's edition of our small talks we got the chance to talk to Alicia Agneson, a Swedish actress that got her breakthrough in the HBO series Vikings. In this interview she will be sharing her passion for her work, sustainability and vintage clothing as well as the importance of the contrasts in her life. We are so inspired by Alicia and her ambitions as an actress but also her work with charities and environmental issues.
For those who follow you on instagram, it’s obvious that your style defines who you are. Does your work as an actress shine through in your style?
Absolutely I’d say it does, I often choose outfits depending on feeling and mood. If I feel like I want to hide away for a few days on the countryside you’ll find my clothing reflecting just that. If I’m getting dressed for a carpet I’ll make sure not to hold back. And if I go through scripts to get myself ready to portray a new character I’ll wear something very casual, comfy and simple as I want to feel like a blank piece of paper.
How would you describe your style?
My style is a mix between old school glamour and the modern fierce on-the-go woman. My style is full of textures, patterns and colours. It’s a way of describing and portraying dreams and passions.
Where do you find your inspiration?
My inspiration very much comes from within. I rarely look at others or on advertisement to find what I want to wear, I simply imagine how I want to look based on the occasion and the feeling. I suppose a lot of inspiration also is based on how I grew up and what I dreamed to be. I watched sound of music and dreamt of Rita Hayworth - so I suppose that’s a mixture that’s still in the back of my head, haha.
Some pieces have the power to make you feel confident in any situation. Do you have any such pieces in your wardrobe? Tell us about what makes them so special to you.
Oh absolutely! My wardrobe is full of items like that. Of course some pieces are more wild cards than others, I wouldn’t wear them if I didn’t know it was the right occasion - let’s just put it that way, haha. But then I have those timeless, classic and fierce pieces that always are my go-to-styles. I suppose the power in clothes is about how they make you feel! I have some gems that make me feel like I could conquer the world, some that makes me feel warm and safe, and some elegant and discreet.

Aside of fashion, we would love to hear about your other interests in life, what’s your driving force?
My work drives me like nothing else. To have the opportunity to step into someone else’s clothes and try to understand other people’s misfortunes and paths. Feeling compassion, learning about people’s hopes and dreams, mistakes and sorrow.
Also, being able to change. I have a passion for the world and I love our earth. I try to be as involved as I can in charities and environmental issues. I try to imply that in my own lifestyle as much as I can. Only wearing second hand & sustainably made clothing, consuming less newly produced, saying no to plastics and so on. I work a lot with charities that are working with modern slavery. Making sure all people on this earth have the same rights from birth and this is a constant strife.
Last, it is nature, nature is my constant driving force. I grew up on a farm, hence why I absolutely adore and love the city life. The hectic days and the busy nights. The people running around, the taxis honking their horns and the city scrapers throwing shade. BUT I only think I love and can cope with that life because I constantly take breaks and go back to the farm. Back to fields and forests, horses and bees. All this is like putting on balm for my soul and without that I couldn’t last a day in the busy cities. Contrasts I suppose, they drive me.
